| "Dawnid" is Nora's exclamation of disappointment when something does not go quite as she planned it to. It is probably difficult to tell seeing it written phonetically, however, this is her pronunciation of "darn-it" with her trademark Long Island accent that none of us can figure out the origin of. These instances of disappointment can range from the trivial, such as not being able to have a cookie bag, all the way up to the catastrophic, such as not being able to wear the party dress of her choosing outside to play. At any rate, "Dawnid" has become the standard terminology in our household with Kerry and I using it on a fairly regular basis. With any luck, we will start using it frequently enough that Ryan will stop exclaiming "Jesus!" at randomly inopportune times. |
